HALP, INKERS!
Apr. 25th, 2008 03:29 pmBeing the lousy excuse for an artist that I am, I have never tried ink drawing before. I've mostly stuck to paints, pastels, and pencils, but I am really REALLY interested in trying inking because I am wearing down my fine pencils trying to draw solid stuff.
So, the help I need is, can you guys point me somewhere or give suggestions equipment-wise? I really like to draw very fine, very small things, so... I know at least one of you in my flist is into calligraphy, so this is also directed to you... :D
(And by equipment, I mean pens, ink, and paper.)

Date: 2008-04-25 03:34 pm (UTC)Brushes:
Sakura brush 3/0
Reeves nylon hair brush 4
Pens and liners (I think you'll want things like these, for very small and very fine drawings :D):
Kuelox Graphic Art Liner, black, points 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.7
Staedtler Pigment Liner, black, 0.3
Uni Pin Fine Line, black, 0.1
Pilot GTech, black, 0.3 (just for fixing stuff, not the main inking; the lines don't have a lot of character since they're very very fine)
I used to ink with Artline pens, too, but I like Staedtler much better. Smoother lines.
Nibs:
Speedball C6 and B5, with the oblique penholder
Ink:
Black Higgins ink
Opaque watercolor (for black+1 color stuff)
Most of these you can buy in National. I don't remember the brand of my brush pen (in any case National doesn't stock good brush pens), though. I bought mine in Joli's in Manila, behind UST. If there's something you can't find in National, try going to Joli's for it. Actually you might want to do all your art supply shopping in Joli's since everything's much cheaper there.
