HALP, INKERS!

meissaBeing the lousy excuse for an artist that I am, I have never tried ink drawing before. I've mostly stuck to paints, pastels, and pencils, but I am really REALLY interested in trying inking because I am wearing down my fine pencils trying to draw solid stuff.
So, the help I need is, can you guys point me somewhere or give suggestions equipment-wise? I really like to draw very fine, very small things, so... I know at least one of you in my flist is into calligraphy, so this is also directed to you... :D
(And by equipment, I mean pens, ink, and paper.)
